About this Frame
The A4 Sight Edge Size is unique to Pictureframes.uk – designed specifically to accommodate a Paper-cut or other artwork with the whole artwork visible. The 210 x 297mm size is the size of the Aperture in the front of the frame i.e. the part of the artwork visible from the front.
The Frame is made from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified Tulip wood (Liriodendrun Tulipifera) from North America. The corners are joined using our superior “Butterfly” joints which are considerably stronger than the underpins used by other frame-makers. The frame moulding is 21mm wide and 34mm deep.
The frame is sprayed with two undercoats and then two coats of white satin lacquer top coat. The result is a beautiful flat satin sheen finish with no corners showing. .
This Double Glass Frame is designed to accommodate a Papercut or any other art work which benefits from being sandwiched between two pieces of glass. The frame is fitted with two pieces of 2mm float glass. The pressure in the glass is usually enough to hold the papercut or other artwork in place but occasionally a small blob of glue on the back will make sure that nothing moves.
The frames are fitted with brass turn-buttons and a spacer at the back so as to be able to remove the glass but so that no fittings show from the front. For the same reason, the hangers are fitted to the back of the frame out of sight.
